Zoe Golding

Zoe Golding is a multidisciplinary artist and a Bunganditj and Gumbaynggirr woman. Her early experiences with her Grandmother, who was also an artist, involved responding to her natural surroundings with a sense of connection to place and the values of custodianship. Engaging this child-like perspective in her practice, Golding employs a fictional narrative device in her work to explore places familiar and foreign, resulting in a whimsical and sublime rendering of the landscape. Having developed this particular approach to place, Golding is currently developing work in response to Nordic landscapes and children’s book illustrations – a place Golding has never physically experienced, creating a tension in her work between romanticism, connection to country and notions of innocence.
