Miah Bell

I am a young Gumbaynggirr woman from Grafton.  I have had a love for art and my culture from a young age and enjoy painting and drawing.

My art style is strongly inspired by my father and grandmother, Howie and Lexie Donovan, who have contributed many pieces of artwork into the community over the years.

I was invited to contribute to an art exhibition Jagun Yammar held at Coffs Regional Gallery in April 2021. Gaangan yamaarr is the Gumbaynggirr name for parrot fish and is what I chose to paint. As a Gumbaynggirr woman, I have always had a strong connection to the ocean I love the vibrant colours of the parrot fish.
