RAELENE MIRINDO

Raelene Mirindo is a contemporary indigenous artist born and raised in the northern beaches of Sydney , her connection is to the Kamilaroi people from her mother who was from Bourke. After  moving to south Australia to be closer to her father she had a chance meeting with some Pitjantjatjara  elders where  she discovered dot painting and with his encouragement and there’s  started painting  and fell in love with it ,from there Raelene moved to the Kimberley region of Australia  where she lived on a remote aboriginal community for over a decade  that’s  where her art really came alive inspired by the bright colours of the Kimberleys . Raelene has now called the northern rivers home for the past sixteen years. Raelene’s artwork is mainly sea themed and  is inspired from her love of growing up right next to the beach and also from her time spent in the Kimberley’s; the colours where just awe inspiring. Raelene,s artwork is all about experimenting with different mediums especially ink and acrylic.
