Mirra Winni Gaze

WEAVER/ARTIST

I love to paint using vibrant colours like the rainbow and especially the ocean. I look forward to exploring more clay work using ochres and firing on the ground in a fire pit. Art for me is keeping a deep connection with nature, art has been a way of life and I have enjoyed showing my work in various exhibitions over the past 15 years.

Weaving is the medium I have found joy in. Materials are free and it involves walking in the bush, walking in country to collect materials. For me I feel free away from the hustle and bustle of concrete jungles. Closer to the Creator Spirit and Ancestors. I feel this is now showing through my work … exciting and natural. I have a passion to pass these skills on, and to protect our beautiful country for the future and the next generations.

With love and gratitude,
Mirri winni
